2025 VIC-3D Workshop Success!
Our three-day intensive workshop on the VIC-3D digital image correlation system came to a successful conclusion last week in Charlottesville, VA. It was an engaging and insightful experience for all involved, filled with lively discussions, practical exercises, and valuable networking opportunities. We were thrilled to see such enthusiasm and active participation from attendees representing a diverse range of industrial, governmental, and academic institutions. The level of engagement in the hands-on sessions and the thoughtful questions posed during the lectures truly highlighted the growing interest and importance of DIC techniques in modern engineering and scientific research. We are confident that the knowledge and skills gained over these three days will empower participants to effectively apply DIC in their respective fields, getting the most out of their VIC-3D system, and pushing the boundaries of deformation and strain measurement.

The workshop began with a fascinating tour of the University of Virginia grounds.

Finally, we want to express our sincere gratitude to each and every participant. Despite a wide diversity of research experiences and career trajectories, and with a great mix of industry, government, and academic interests, your eagerness to learn, your insightful contributions, and your positive energy made this workshop a truly rewarding experience for the entire team. We hope you found the sessions informative and beneficial, and that the connections made here will foster future collaborations and knowledge sharing within the DIC community. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and look forward to staying connected. Thank you for being a part of the first-ever VIC-3D workshop!

A special thank you must be extended to our generous hosts Jason Provines and his team at the Virginia Transportation Research Council. Their support and provision of excellent facilities created a comfortable and conducive learning environment. We truly appreciate their hospitality and the seamless logistical arrangements and technical support, which played a crucial role in the smooth execution of the workshop. We are grateful for their partnership and look forward to potential collaborations in the future.
Another special thank you goes out to Dr. Devin Harris and the team at the School of Engineering & Applied Science at UVA who have been gracious hosts and amazing partners throughout the planning and execution of this event.
There is no doubt the success of the workshop owes a lot to this team, and it was an honor for us to work with them.
We especially appreciated the opportunity to visit the Structures Lab in the Thornton Hall building on the UVA grounds for a demonstration of large-scale DIC.
