Lighting for High-Speed Systems

Correlated Solutions provides external, cool LED lighting solutions that are easily adjustable and apply flicker-free and diffuse light. These lighting system characteristics are essential for obtaining high-quality images for any test to be measured with DIC.

Applications that require high-speed cameras often use microsecond and nanosecond exposure times, which in turn require extraordinary amounts of light. Our engineers stay on top of the best and brightest lighting solutions on the market to ensure your application is as brightly lit as possible.

Flexible mounting solutions including light stands, robust positioning arms, and other mounting solutions are provided with each lighting system to ensure calibration targets are evenly lit and test images have good speckle pattern contrast.

6000 Lumen LED Lighting System

This 6,000 lumen LED lighting system features four 3XLED heads each with an output of 1,500 lumens. The system contains four heads that each have three high-intensity LEDs that will illuminate up to a diameter of approximately 36” with frame rates up to approximately 100,000 fps using the four heads.

This LED system is well suited for low to moderate high-speed applications, but is also ideal for vibration/fatigue applications with a constant driving frequency. By utilizing the system’s optional stroboscope feature, the system can be used with the VIC-3D Fatigue & Vibration Module for illumination down to 1 microsecond exposure.

The ¼”-20 thread at the base makes it easy to attached the heads to either positioning arms or air-cushioned light stands. This unit is also available with linear polarizers, which help reduce specular reflections which are a common challenge in DIC (requires polarizer filters on lenses as well).

Specifications:

  • 6,000 lumens (4 x 1,500)

  • Flood controller with 50, 75, 85, or 100% intensity settings

  • Compact design ideal for illumination of small to medium scale specimens

  • Optional strobe rates up to 10,000 Hz @ 1 µs with triggering inputs

  • Choose air cushion stands or positioning arms with clam base

  • Long life, up to 25,000 hours

  • 100-240VAC power input

12,000 Lumen LED Lighting System

This 12,000 lumen LED lighting system consists of two compact 4x6 LED units (6,000 lumens each), a flood or strobe controller, and air-cushioned light stands. This lighting package is excellent for brief or prolonged direct lighting, as very little heat is produced from the units. The system is ideal for illuminating larger areas up to approximately 2m with frame rates up to 20,000 fps using both arrays.

This LED system is well suited for low to moderate high-speed applications, and can also be used with for vibration/fatigue applications with a constant driving frequency. By utilizing the system’s optional stroboscope feature, the system can be used with the VIC-3D Fatigue & Vibration Module for illumination down to 1 microsecond exposure.

Specifications:

  • 12,000 lumens (2 x 6,000)

  • Flood controller with 50, 75, 85, or 100% intensity settings

  • Powerful 24 LED array designed for illumination of larger scale specimens (up to ~2 m)

  • Optional strobe rates up to 10,000 Hz @ 1 µs with triggering inputs

  • Choose air cushion stands (10 ft)

  • Long life, up to 25,000 hours

  • Only 8 amperes of current draw

  • 100-240 VAC power input

14,000 Lumen LED Lighting System

This 14,000 lumen LED lighting system features four 7XLED heads each with an output of 7,000 lumens per head. The system contains two heads that each have three high-intensity LEDs that will illuminate up to a diameter of approximately 60” with frame rates up to approximately 200,000 fps using both heads.

This LED system is well suited for moderate to extreme high-speed applications, and can also be used with for vibration/fatigue applications with a constant driving frequency. By utilizing the system’s optional stroboscope feature, the system can be used with the VIC-3D Fatigue & Vibration Module for illumination down to 1 microsecond exposure.

The ¼”-20 thread at the base makes it easy to attach the heads to either positioning arms or air-cushioned light stands. This unit is also available with linear polarizers, which help reduce specular reflections which are a common challenge in DIC (requires polarizer filters on lenses as well).

Specifications:

  • 14,000 lumens (2 x 7,000)

  • Flood controller with 50, 75, 85, or 100% intensity settings

  • Powerful 7 LED array designed for illumination of medium to larger scale specimens

  • Optional strobe rates up to 10,000 Hz @ 1 µs with triggering inputs

  • Choose air cushion stands or positioning arms with a clam base

  • Long life, up to 25,000 hours

  • 100-240 VAC power input

Hedler LED 1000 Twin Fresnel Lighting System

Specifications:

  • 20 to 60° Focusable Spot-to-Flood

  • 5 – 100 % dimming

  • 5600 k color temp

  • Optional polarizer filters for reducing reflections

  • Air cushion stands

  • Long life, up to 50,000 hours

  • 100-240 VAC power input

This two-piece LED lighting system features two Hedler 1000 LED heads with focusable Fresnel lenses. The kit includes daylight-balanced LEDs that draw only 185W each, but output many times that in tungsten equivalent power. Each head has integrated ballasts which makes them more compact. The lights have a dimmable range from 5-100% with a dimmer button to easily got from 100% power to a user set level which makes setting up your VIC-3D system much more comfortable. The system also includes 4-leaf barn doors that help control the light. A wide range of Hedler light kits is available to fit your needs.
