Developing the Wheels on the Perseverance Rover

Now that NASA's Perseverance Rover has started to make its way around the surface of Mars, it's a good time to look back at the development of the wheels - including cutting-edge testing with digital image correlation and other advanced photogrammetric technology.

The full interview with senior aerospace engineer, Dr. Sotiris Kellas about the Mars 2020 mission and the role of digital image correlation can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehu-RmhICrk

Dr. Kellas was the technical lead of the NASA Engineering and Safety Center team which supported the development of the heat shield on the Mars 2020 spacecraft.
