Employees at Correlated Solutions work closely with scientists across all fields and industries to provide, customize, develop and support full-field, non-contact Digital Image Correlation (DIC) measurement solutions.

DIC offers unparalleled solutions for optical measurement across various testing applications (dynamic, static, large-scale, micro-scale, etc.) and various fields (aerospace, automotive, civil, biomechanical, energy, and consumer products).

Because applications vary and each customer brings a new set of parameters and challenges, it is critical to have experts in the DIC field to identify challenges and provide appropriate solutions. Correlated Solutions engineers are enthusiastic to see and learn about each customer’s application and offer solutions that will add value to their research, design, and/or product.

We are currently looking for qualified candidates in the following positions:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree is required in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience is preferred

Job Description: This position requires a mechanical engineering background – preferably focused in the areas of solid mechanics, material science, dynamics, vibration analysis, and other areas that involve mechanical testing and deformation analysis. These skills will be required since each system is unique and turnkey solutions are customized by the sales engineer according to the application, test parameters, and customer’s needs.

The Mechanical Engineer job duties will include (but not limited to) the following:

    • Design, implement, and maintain software features for digital image correlation (DIC) systems.

    • Maintain and update existing DIC software architecture to improve performance, stability, and functionality.

    • Advance research on autonomous drones equipped with DIC for large-scale structure inspection, transitioning from proof-of-concept to field-ready system.

    • Develop and maintain firmware for devices used in DIC systems, including camera synchronization, triggering, and data acquisition.

    • Research, evaluate, and integrate new technologies and algorithms to enhance existing DIC workflows and develop new capabilities.

    • Investigate and resolve software and hardware integration issues, implement testing procedures, and deploy fixes to ensure overall system reliability.

    • Prepare technical documentation, experimental reports, and internal tools for software and hardware calibration and testing.

  • Qualifications: A B.S. in engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical, etc.) or related field is required.

Experience: 1-3 years of technical sales experience is preferred

Job Description: The Technical Sales Engineer combines technical knowledge with sales skills. Due to the technical nature of digital image correlation (DIC), this position requires an engineering background – preferably focused in the areas of solid mechanics, material science, dynamics, vibration analysis, and other areas that involve mechanical testing and deformation analysis. These skills will be required since each system is unique and turnkey solutions are customized by the sales engineer according to the application, test parameters, and customer’s needs.

Exceptional communication skills are also required, as the critical function of the Sales Engineer is to understand the customer’s application and needs, identify and communicate the any challenges unique to that niche application and provide turnkey solutions. The Sales Engineers work closely with the end-users to provide a DIC system that will add value to the customer’s research, testing, validation, and/or products. These customers are professors, engineers, scientists & researchers, and technical specialists from institutions such as universities, government agencies, and private institutions across all engineering sectors (inclusive of aerospace, automotive, civil, biomechanical, energy, and consumer products).

The Technical Sales Engineer job duties will include (but not limited to) the following:

    • Working with customers to configure and customize full-field, non-contact measurement solutions with DIC systems

    • Developing long-term relationships with customers

    • Identifying and communicating any challenges unique to each niche application

    • Providing turnkey DIC solutions to add value to the customer’s research, testing, validation and/or products

    • Demonstrating DIC capabilities to customers, often including live demos and/or feasibility studies

    • Searching and targeting new customers with the objective of expanding the DIC market to new applications

    • Supporting the marketing team with product material in the form of technical content for creating brochures, website material, and promotional videos, and by attending trade shows, conferences, and other sales events

    • Traveling up to 20% - 30% domestic and some international for onsite demos, conferences, and expositions.

  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field (required)

    Experience: 1-3 years (preferred)

The Applications Engineer position involves training and technical support to customers. Applications engineers also take a lead role in design projects, such as designing in-house camera mounting systems and lighting solutions. Additional responsibilities include supporting sales, marketing, production, and development teams. Due to the technical nature of digital image correlation (DIC), this position requires an engineering background – preferably focused in the areas of solid mechanics, material science, dynamics, vibration analysis, and/or other areas that involve mechanical testing and deformation analysis.

A critical function of the Applications Engineer is to work closely with customers to understand challenges and provide solutions. Therefore, communication skills are vital. Since each DIC challenge is often unique to a niche application, the Applications Engineer must serve as a technical DIC expert, eager to troubleshoot and provide solutions for end users who are professors, engineers, scientist & researchers, and technical specialists from across all engineering sectors (aerospace, automotive, civil, biomechanical, energy, and consumer products) both public and private.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Installing new systems and training end-users to use the system. Installs require troubleshooting the most effective way to adapt DIC systems to specific applications. Trainings require educating end-users how to use the system and how to get the most useful data in order to meet their specific needs. The end-users are typically engineers, scientists, technical specialists, professors, or engineering students working in research labs and testing environments. Installations and trainings will be at the customer site and will require travel.

    • Providing customer support to end-users. Support will be via phone and email. Since our product is a full turn-key system, this will involve troubleshooting test setup, hardware and software issues, and data analysis.

    • Providing mechanical designs and improvements for in-house and customized stereo-camera mounting systems, lighting solutions, triggering systems, etc.

    • Supporting other roles in the company. As a small company, it is critical that the team be enthusiastic about supporting other roles as needed. This includes working closely with sales, production, design, and development teams.

    • Supporting the marketing team with product material in the form of technical content and creating promotional videos and by attending trade shows, conferences, and other sales events

    • Traveling 20-60% within the U.S. and Canada and sometimes international.

  • Due to the technical nature of digital image correlation, the Software Developer position at Correlated Solutions requires an engineering background – preferably focused in the areas of solid mechanics, material science, dynamics, vibration analysis, and other areas that involve the combination of computer science and experimental mechanics.

Communication skills are also important, as the critical function of the Software Developer is to understand the details of feature requests and bug reports, and to identify and communicate the any challenges to the team. The Software Developers work closely with the rest of the team to provide digital image correlation software that will add value to the customer’s research, testing, validation and/or products. These customers are professors, engineers, scientist & researchers, and technical specialists from institutions such as universities, government agencies, and private institutions across all engineering sectors (aerospace, automotive, civil, biomechanical, energy, and consumer products).

    Basic Requirements

    • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree

    • C/C++ and python programming

    • Knowledge of experimental mechanics (preferred)

    • Experience in Finite Element Analysis (preferred)

    • Strong background in linear algebra and numerical methods (preferred)

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
